Care Communications, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Leslie Ann Fox, MA, RHIA and Gerry Stearns, MSPH. Pioneers in quality assurance methods for healthcare facilities, they developed and presented hundreds of seminars and training programs throughout the USA and Canada. With the implementation of DRGs in 1983, CARE established their first coding validation services. Along with seminars and publications on coding with ICD9-CM and CPT, in 1984 CARE developed CodeMaster, one of the first knowledge-based encoders. Throughout the 1990s, CARE focused on quality data through exceptional HIM services. Committed to the highest standards of ethical coding practices, CARE continues to assist hospitals with all facets of medical record coding, consultation and education.
