Care Communications, Inc. was founded in 1976 by Leslie Ann Fox, MA, RHIA and Gerry Stearns, MSPH. Pioneers in quality assurance methods for health care facilities, they developed data retrieval methods for performing audits in hospitals. Over the years, they helped lead the evolution of medical audits to quality management programs. They presented hundreds of seminars and training programs throughout the USA and Canada. With the implementation of DRGs in 1983, CARE established their first coding validation services. Along with seminars and publications on coding with ICD9-CM and CPT, in 1984 CARE developed CodeMaster, one of the first knowledge-based encoders. Throughout the 1990s, CARE focused on quality data through exceptional HIM services. Committed to the highest standards of ethical coding practices, CARE continues to assist health care facilities with all facets of medical record coding, consultation and education.
Through the Care Communications and Records One (formerly BayScribe) partnership, we provide solutions for creating structured data from unstructured clinical notes that facilitates electronic health record (EHR) adoption, supports appropriate Health Information Exchange (HIE) and improves reimbursement through clinical documentation improvement (CDI) and coding efficiency, all while improving quality.
CARE continues to explore new ways in which we can contribute to achieving better, safer patient care. We recognize that client needs vary - that one size does not fit all, and pledge to customize the most flexible, creative, and ethical HIM solutions to meet your unique health information needs. At CARE, you will find that we are committed to both improving and streamlining HIM solutions that will work now and in the future.
